I was born and raised in Minnesota. I grew up playing trombone in the school band, singing, and listening to music for hours on headphones alone in my room. I went to St. Olaf College and majored in English, but in reality, music was my focus. In college I started teaching myself how to play guitar.

After college I moved to Minneapolis and played in rock bands with my friend Todd. Then I went to grad school at Kansas State University to get a master's degree in English literature and creative writing. Since then, I've been working for two federal TRIO programs at K-State, helping college students learn to write better and prepare to succeed in graduate school.

I'm married and a stepdad to my wife's 10-year-old daughter. I am currently writing and recording music on my own with Todd, who still lives in Minneapolis. We put our music out as Mocha Green (available through JT Collective -- http://www.jtcollective.com/).
